We are living in an age where merging man and machine is no longer mere fantasy. Rapid advances in prosthetics and augmentation through wearable and implantable technology, together with breakthroughs in data analytics and artificial intelligence, are opening up entirely new possibilities in biomedicine and beyond. In this talk we will look beyond the hype and assess the technological, economic and ethical aspects of these developments through case studies in neurological diagnostics and brain-machine interfacing.
